Say Goodbye to 2010!

Well this is the last post of the year! :) I started this thing up in November (I think?) mainly just to write, I guess. I wonder how long it's going to take me to stop keeping up with this thing o.O I usually just give up in things like this really quickly, but hopefully I can actually commit to this.

There's a lot of good things that happened this year! I had my quinceañera and I got my camera!! :DD I still can't over the fact that I actually got it :) My amigo Pancho (aka. the Nikon L110) is a brave soldier just because it's in my hands (I tend to drop everything). I'm happy for the weird people I met and who are now my friends. I am extremely happy for the reunions I was able to have with some older friends :D I got to see my favorite band live!!! Switchfoot :) and also Skillet, along with TobyMac XP

Yeah, I had a lot of great moments, but there are still things that I didn't do and I completely regret not doing them :/ Maybe this next year I can make up for that. Sure it might be too late, but there's some things that can still be said. Well at least there's no harm in trying, right?

So anyway! I wrote a new poem! It might be a bit dark (or "emo" as some jerks like to call it), but it was really interesting to write. I wrote it while watching CSI: New York lol. So this one's titled "My Justice." Tell me what you think!

Random Photo; I like the color of the sky (:

The ending to this story will be eternal.
Falling into a deep comatose with no escape.
With blood on my hands my finger cannot signal
At the person who really controls my fate.
Again I try to feel, I try to breathe,
And the sharpness of air alerts me.
There is no point to try to make a leave,
It is tragically obvious of what will be.
The numbness begins to spread like a cancer,
My eyes begin to feel heavy and start to flutter.
My heart is no longer the joyous dancer,
It is now the shiny trophy of my hunter.
I now take one last breath in hope for truth,
The only justice that, unlike me, is bulletproof.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

MERRY CHRISTMAS (yeah, it's early)!!!! :D

So, it's December and we're getting the wrong type of weather! How come it isn't as cold as last year :( I don't know about you guys, but I am extremely disappointed about it. I don't think we're going to be seeing any snow this year :/ And sure it usually only lasts a day, but it's nice and it feels like winter. Yeah, that's just my bit of a rant :P Winter break is here and no more tests or school for two weeks, so that's always nice.

Putting winter and Christmas aside, it's almost New Year's! And I know you're not supposed to make resolutions until later, but I don't really feel like picking up a topic or anything for this week. So here's my list:

1. Get SLR Film Camera. I used one for my Photo 1 class and I fell in live with it! I don't know why, but I now prefer film over digital. And, yeah, people keep telling me that there's no point in film and to just go along with digital, but there's something about film that makes everything feel more real. I found a really good deal on Craigslist, so I'm pretty excited :)

2. Start writing more short stories! So, I also took a Creative Writing class this past semester. Going into the class I thought that writing short stories was going to be the hardest type of writing that I'll ever have to do. Yes, it was a bit challenging at first, but in the end it all seem to come together really well. I've seriously considered becoming a writer and I think I want to pursue more into the idea.

3. Stop drinking so much caffeine! In the past year, something with my pulse/blood pressure began to happen. My pulse was going at 125 beats per minute and that's not so good. The normal beats per minute should be at around 60-90. I still don't know why this is happening, but the doctors keep advising me to try to stay off thinks that have a lot of sugar and caffeine.....CAFFEINE!!!! So, no more Monster :( Coffee is something that I feel like I need, which totally sucks. I'm going to try to limit myself more.

Hope ya'll eat a lot too! XD
That's all the ones I have for now. Not sure if I'll stick with them, but I hope I do :) Since these posts are only on Thursdays, I wish you a Merry Christmas!!! Hopefully I have something more interesting next week :P

Feliz Navidad!

Happy Midterm/Finals Week -.-"

Omgizzle it is finally Thursday!! Which basically means, one more midterm before Christmas break :D Feel like I failed one, but other than that I think I did pretty well. I hope ya'll did pretty well on yours too :) And I hope you start off the Christmas break with a big BANG and end it that way too!

Okay, I've started to notice that I haven't put up any photography and have only talked about music and poetry. I actually think I'm going to keep it that way. I love taking photography and admiring other artist's work, but I don't think I like sharing much of mine. I also don't think I know enough to be talking about it, so I think I'm just going to lay off the subject for a while....

Favorite Band :)
But anywho! I am really excited for the Grammy's this year! My favorite band has been nominated for the "Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album." :DD YAY for SWITCHFOOT!! I am pretty excited and I hope they win. They are such a good band that I've been listening to since I was eight :) Their music and lyrics are absolutely beautiful and they always make my day. Their most recent album, Hello Hurricane (the one that is being nominated for the Grammy), is totally awesometastic and no wonder it was nominated :)

For the other nominees, all I have to say is "..........." Yup that's it. I don't really like the other nominees. Ke$ha needs to stop using auto-tune. And if she can't really sing, well maybe it should be the end of her career. (Geez, I can be mean o.O)

Well, yup that's all I got for this week! Hope you guys passed your finals and have a good weekend!! :D

THE END,
Leslie ^.^

I Forgot!

Okay, so basically I had a really great idea about what today's post was going to be about, and then this morning I totally forgot what it was about. I seriously need to start writing down these ideas :P So just know I'm going to go to the first thing that pops in my head!

Today is the second to last day of my favorite class I've ever taken (well it's actually ties with photo). I really enjoyed taking this Creative Writing Class this semester and I wish it were a whole year thing :( I actually wrote my first successful sonnet! You know the type of poem that's fourteen lines and has to rhyme? So I think that's what I'm going to be posting today :) Hope you enjoy and comment if you'd like.

Just a random photo or our purple pinkies :)
Bittersweet Silence
Have you ever noted the sound of silence?
The way your body reacts to the still moment
Keeping a steady sense of balance,
Noticing that all noise is absent.
Keep quit and you might hear a child
Whispering to the night to keep him well
And to keep him away from the wild,
Crazy streets that could be known as hell.
Too many things whispered in a hushed tone
Words spoken to the wind and no other
Still waiting for a sense of help or hope
Like the heart-breaking cries of a mother
Hear the sweet, sad sound of silence tonight.
Maybe one day it will make everything just right.

So that's about it! Hopefully, I'll remember the idea I had for the post :P Have an awesome Thursday and make sure to be your weird self as always :D

"I said good day!"

Look Alive, Sunshine

It's finally December! :D I'm kind of happy about it. The year went by pretty fast, or so I think so, and yesterday (the first day of the month), we finally got some cold weather! I got out of my house in the morning to go to school and there was ice on roofs and cars :) The last time I saw that kind of stuff was at the beginning of the year so I was pretty excited.

Favorite song: "S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W"
On a different note! I finally got the new My Chemical Romance album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys :D It's pretty awesome, so if you were wondering if to buy or listen to it, I highly suggest it :) They have a knew kind of rhythm, or from my cousin's point of view, "They sound happier! Their lyrics are the same though, so it's still great." Thanks Ruth (I'm not sure if that's exactly how she said it, but I know it's something close to that)! MCR started doing songs that sound pretty technoish. One thing you need to know, I HATE TECHNO, but when I heard "Planetary (GO!)" I was pretty happy about it, their lyrics just pretty much made it up for me :) It's probably the only techno stuff I like! But chea, I love the album and recommend it to rock listeners and even deep poets! I just love the way they write :D

Favorite song: "Mean"
Another album that was recently released is Taylor Swift's Speak Now. I got this album by accident, actually. I was plugging in my cousin's iPod into my computer so I could get the new MCR stuff and Taylor Swift's album also transfered in. I've heard many good things about it from friends (both teens and adults), but I hadn't experienced myself. I know, people are saying that all her music is love songs (even though there are those few that aren't), but in this album I think Swift took a different approach in the country genre. Some of the new tracks are a bit more pop and I think that's the only thing I don't really like. On the other hand, there is more incorporating parts for both bass and drums, so some of the songs are a bit faster than her usual, such as "Better Than Revenge." And you have to admit, love and break-up songs are what are really selling lately, so Taylor Swift is pretty much on a roll :) But if you don't like her in the first place, I do not suggest this album, I don't think it would really change your opinion of her (you can if you want though!). If you enjoy pop and some country, go for it! You'll enjoy it :D

And that's pretty much all I have for today :) I feel like this post was a bit long, but I pretty much write what comes to my mind at the moment. OH! I also wanted to post a quick picture that I took after the concert two Saturdays ago. Just tell me what you think.

Happy Thursday!
Leslie :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! :D

Hey you guys! Just wanted to say happy thanksgiving and hope that you have a good one. I am blessed to have my family here in Houston :) Even though we're not that many here, we still make up for a HUGE family XD I am happy to have my friends who are always there when I need them <3 So yeah, I know it's all cliché to say and what not, but just take a second of today to just think about what you're thankful for. OH! And make sure you eat a ton! I can't wait to taste my cousin's chocoflan thingy lol Can't remember what it's called right now XP

OK so, I woke up this morning and remembered that I had to post something and I am completely unprepared so work with me! So on Saturday, November 20, 2010, I was able to attend and Awake Tonight/ Winter Wonder Slam concert with TobyMac and Skillet! You might have read it on last week's post that I went with Ruth, Maira, and Steven :)

John Cooper (personally my favorite photo :D)
Ben Kasica
We went to see Skillet last year (seriously it was almost 1 WHOLE year since we last saw them) and we thought that they were absolutely amazing! They basically almost had the same set list as last year, but in different order. Some people might think, "Then why did you go again?" (*cough cough* Dennis). Well they were such great performers and their music is amazing so why not see them again? Last year, we didn't get to see the whole performance because we left early, so what we didn't see last year was Ben Kasica's guitar solo (picture of him to the above right), a violin solo (he played "Deep in the Heart of Texas"!), along with a cello solo :D We also got to hear their song "Lucy" and "Rebirthing" so that was awesome :)

TobyMac singing "City on Our Knees"
And for the first time, we were able to see TobyMac perform! We love his music, his character, and he is also a great performer. We only had one little problem: HE NEVER COMPLETED A SONG! His songs would go something like this: first verse, chorus, last verse, and end with the chorus. I am not saying he's a horrible performer, he had the charisma to get the attention of an audience, but I mean it would have been better if he would finish our favorite songs, you know. But other than that he was absolutely amazing (:

So yup that's about it XD I know this might not be really interesting to some, but hey you could always give me some ideas about what to write about so just let me know!

Happy Thanksgiving,
Leslie :D

Body Image?

Happy November 18 you guys (just feeling a bit random today haha)!! Okay so I guess today I'm going to be focusing on one of the poems I wrote :) Probably one of the shortest I've ever written, but I think it also has a lot of meaning.

Before though, I just want to say...2 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE SKILLET AND TOBYMAC CONCERT!!!!!!! :DD Yes, we went to see Skillet last year, but we haven't seen TobyMac. And why not go see Skillet again? They were totally awesometastic last year, so I'm really excited to see them again (: I will be going with my cousin Ruth, Maira, and Steven. Lucky boy gets to go his first concert at age 10 XP I know he's going to enjoy it though (:

Anywho! I don't want to describe it much of what I wrote about, so please tell me what you think about the poem and please watch the video below from Dove Productions. It was pretty much my muse to write this, so enjoy :D

The Gracious Few

HEY YOU GUYS!!
Too much has happened since the last post! Not all very good, but some stuff was okay.
Take daylight savings for one. It has affected the amount of sleep I usually get. Every day since Sunday, I can feel my eyelids drooping not wanting to open in the morning! :( I haven't felt as sleepy since we started the school year.
But yea, that's basically how life has been like lately. Many things occurred, but not many I can really elaborate on.

On different note, I think I am going to start making posts that go on and off about photography, music, and writing. Basically, this week it will be about music, next it will be about writing (or photography, if I change my mind), etc.

There's a lot of new great bands out there that are starting to show up on iTunes and other sites. If you like the rock genre, I think you might enjoy this band, The Gracious Few. The band recently recorded their first album The Gracious Few. I downloaded four of their songs and love the way they play. Of course, the electric guitar is one of the main elements to a rock group, but this band is able to incorporate a new kind of flow with the words. The Gracious are able to make their lyrics sound like a speech or a proclamation. In a way they have a Nirvana kind of vibe by making their voices kind of quiet and a bit lazy at the beginning, and by the chorus they begin to let their voices become louder. You can also tell that the drummer is pretty experienced by the sound of his technique.

If you enjoy bands like Breaking Benjamin, I highly suggest this band! :D If you like, just email me and I can send you one of the songs :)

Comment on this post to tell me if you like my ideas about future posts, and if you don't....well sucks for you! Haha, just kidding, but if you didn't like them, just give me some of your ideas, please! :D

First Post?

YES!
This is the first post! Hopefully I can keep up with 3 blogs (this one, and two more for class).

My goal: Try to create a new post at least once a week!

Is that a good enough goal? I do think so :) I don't think this is about having the most followers/viewers though. This isn't myspace/facebook/twitter XP If you do start reading though, just know that most of these posts might be reflection of one's self. I might write poetry or short stories and occasionally post up some photos I've taken! Might even sneak in some new music I'm listening to (maybe a song of the week!) o.O This is going to be a blog about absolutely anything that can exist in this world (or maybe even beyond that!) :D So enjoy and I think all my new entries will be posted up every Thursday :)
